Synopsis

Whatever Happened, Happened aired on April 1, 2009. Bobby Roth directed his second of three Lost episodes, after The Man Behind the Curtain. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote it.
Where things stand: DHARMA has captured Sayid, and he has come face to face with young Ben Linus. The returning group is still keeping up its cover in 1977, while Sun searches for Jin in the present.
This is a Kate episode. The group debates saving young Ben, and Kate reveals why she came back to the Island. The title is a statement of the rules, and the people on the Island do not all agree on what those rules are. Kate’s reasons for returning have been an open question since the Oceanic Six were told they had to go back. This is the hour that answers it.
