Lost is a mystery show built on questions that keep coming back: faith vs. science, redemption, destiny vs. free will, parents and children. This hub follows 14 of those big ideas across six seasons. Each theme gathers the episodes, people and mysteries behind it, and its pictures come from the latest episode you have watched. Every theme ends with a quick game to test what you caught.
S1E01Faith vs. Science
The central tension between believing in the Island's purpose and demanding rational explanations. Embodied most directly in the conflict between Locke and Jack.

7 episodesGame: Believer or skeptic?Redemption
Nearly every character arrives on the Island carrying guilt or shame. The Island offers a chance to become someone better -- or to repeat the same mistakes.

+16 episodesGame: What are they running from?Destiny vs. Free Will
Are the characters on the Island by fate or by choice? The show returns to this question from every angle, from the Numbers to the Candidate system.

6 episodesGame: Fate or choice?
S1E01Parent & Child
Broken families drive nearly every character. Daddy issues, absent mothers, and the search for parental approval echo across the cast.

+35 episodesGame: Family ties
S1E01Isolation & Connection
Characters who were alone in their former lives find community on the Island. Those who push others away learn what they lose.

5 episodesGame: Alone togetherThe Monster
Something in the jungle knocks down trees, ticks like a machine and seems to judge whoever it meets. Follow every sighting, episode by episode, as far as you have watched.

S1E01The Score
Michael Giacchino scored every episode with a small live orchestra: strings, harp, trombones and odd percussion, and almost no jungle flutes. The cues come back as the show goes, so a few notes can carry a whole relationship.

6 episodesGame: Name that soundBooks
Real novels keep turning up in the castawaysβ hands: tales of escape, of time bending, of a story that may not be what it seems. Sawyer reads more than anyone, and the writers picked every title on purpose.

5 episodesGame: What are they reading?Names and Namesakes
The writers borrowed names from philosophers, scientists and old stories, hid anagrams in a few, and let some first names turn up twice in unrelated lives. John Locke is the first and most obvious. The rest unlock as you watch.

5 episodesGame: Who are they named after?Forgetting
The monster comes and goes, people vanish, and the camp rarely stops to talk it over. Life on the beach just carries on. Even names slip: nobody can keep two of the survivors straight.

+14 episodesGame: Wait, which one?Black and White
Light and dark pairs run through the show from its first hours: game pieces, stones, thread, paint and rock. Once you notice them they are hard to miss.

+15 episodesGame: Light and darkDamaged Bodies
False arms, lost limbs and a glass eye keep turning up, in flashbacks, in the orientation films and in the jungle. The show rarely comments on them.
