Guys, Where Are We? is a personal fan project run by Kate Makrigiannis. It has no ads and no newsletter, and you only sign in if you want to comment. This page lists everything it does collect.

Analytics

The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not identify you.

The site also uses Google Analytics to see which pages and features get used. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that recognise your browser when you come back. Google receives your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages you visit. Some things you do are sent as events too, such as marking an episode watched or revealing a spoiler, and that includes the words you type into the site search and the filming locations search, so please do not type personal details there. When a visit reaches three pages and two minutes, one more event says so, with the page count and how far into the show you have told the site you are (and whether you said you are rewatching).

To opt out, block cookies for this site in your browser, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or open any page with ?ga-opt-out=1 on the end of its address to turn Google Analytics off in that browser (?ga-opt-out=0 turns it back on).

Each page view is also counted by Kate's own analytics at k8mak.com, which uses no cookies. It records the page address (without anything after a ?, except campaign tags such asutm_source), the site that sent you, and a random visit ID that resets after 30 minutes of inactivity. Your IP address is used once to look up the company or internet provider it belongs to, never a person, and is then thrown away without being stored.

Stored in your browser

  • Your spoiler settings and which spoilers you have revealed, in session storage. This clears when you close the tab.
  • Whether you dismissed the rewatch banner, in local storage.
  • The episode you tell the timeline you are on, in local storage, so it remembers next time.
  • Which pages this visit has seen and for how long, in session storage, for the three pages and two minutes event above. This clears when you close the tab.
  • Whether you turned Google Analytics off with ?ga-opt-out=1, in local storage.
  • The random visit ID for Kate's analytics (k8_sid), in local storage. It resets after 30 minutes idle.

None of these are sent to us, apart from that one event and the visit ID.

Community submissions

If you send something to the collection, we store what you submit: the title, description, category, any photo, and the name you choose to give (optional). Submissions are reviewed before they appear. Your IP address is used briefly to limit how many submissions can be sent, and is not kept with the submission.

Offers to build

If you use the Offer to build form, we store what you send: what kind of thing it is, your description, any link, your name (optional) and your email address. It is emailed to the site’s administrator, who may write back, and kept so it can be found again. None of it is shown on the site. Your IP address is used briefly to limit how many offers can be sent, and is not kept. To have an offer deleted, reply to the email you get back, or ask as described under Removing a submission or comment below.

Comments

To comment you sign in with Google. We store your comment, the page it is on, whether you marked it as a spoiler, and the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us. We read each comment before it goes up; once approved, your name, picture and comment are shown publicly. Your email address is not, and is used only to stop one person reporting a comment twice and to contact you about a comment if needed. Your IP address is used briefly to limit how fast comments can be posted, and is not kept.

My board

When you sign in and save something to My board, we store your email address, which things you saved, and the notes you write on them. Your board is private: nobody else can see it, and your email address is never shown. You can remove one save at a time, or delete all your saves and notes at once, from the bottom of My board.

My Lost so far

Your My Lost so far card is worked out in your browser from where you are in the show, your watch log and the site’s games and quizzes. A share link carries only numbers. If you sign in, we also store your card with your email address: your favourite characters, a summary of your numbers (where you are in the show, scores and counts, never your prediction guesses or notes), and any handle, title and bio you choose. It is private until you make it public at your handle’s address. A public card shows your handle, title, bio and favourites, and your numbers only if you tick the second box. It never shows your name, picture or email address. You can delete it from your card page at any time.

Sign-in

Google sign-in is only used for commenting, for My board, for keeping your My Lost so far card and for the site administrator. Reading the site never needs an account. Sign-in uses a cookie to keep you signed in.

Who processes data

Vercel hosts the site and runs Vercel Web Analytics, Supabase stores community submissions, offers to build, comments and saves, Resend sends offers to build to the administrator by email, Google provides sign-in and runs Google Analytics, and k8mak.com counts page views. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.

Removing a submission or comment

To have something you submitted or a comment you wrote removed, get in touch through k8mak.com and say which one it was.

Changes

If this changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
