Solitary

Solitary aired on November 17, 2004. Greg Yaitanes directed, and David Fury wrote his second script of the season.

Where things stand: the camp is split between the beach and the caves, and Sayid has been trying to get a signal out. Remember the transmission the hikers heard in the pilot. Someone sent it.

This is Sayid’s episode: he finds the woman behind that distress call. Two new filming spots turn up. On the Island side there is Kaʻaʻawa Valley on Kualoa Ranch, a steep green valley so popular with film crews that the ranch tours stop at markers for the movies shot there. Off-Island, the crew used Diamond Head crater, the volcanic cone behind Waikīkī, where the summit trail climbs through tunnels and old bunkers.
