Confidence Man

Confidence Man aired on November 10, 2004, written by Damon Lindelof and directed by Tucker Gates, the first of his seven Lost episodes.

Where things stand: the survivors are now split between the caves and the beach. Jack was caught in a cave collapse and came out of it, and Charlie has had a hard week. Supplies from the wreck are scarce, and someone always seems to have more than their share.

That someone is usually Sawyer, and this is his episode. The title is a hint about the man, not a twist. Some of the jungle and shoreline scenes this season were filmed at Kawela Bay on the north tip of Oʻahu, where a grove of huge banyan trees sits between the highway and the sand. Josh Holloway talked the official magazine through how demanding this shoot was in its second issue. Sawyer has been easy to dislike so far, and this is where the show starts asking why he is the way he is.
