Flashes Before Your Eyes aired on February 14, 2007, Valentine’s Day. Jack Bender directed, and Damon Lindelof wrote it with Drew Goddard.
Where things stand: Juliet’s past has just been explored, and Kate and Sawyer have tried to escape. Desmond came back to the Island by sailboat at the end of the second season, and Locke woke after the implosion, but nobody has heard what it was like for Desmond in the Hatch when it happened.
That is where this episode goes. Desmond’s experience during the implosion is revealed, and time itself may be broken. It is Desmond’s first episode at the centre since the second season finale. Off-Island scenes were filmed on Fort Street Mall, a pedestrian street through downtown Honolulu. Henry Ian Cusick told the official magazine how emotionally demanding the shoot was. Fans still list it among the show’s best, so give it your full attention.
