Where things stand: the raft has launched. Back on the Island, Rousseau has delivered her warning, and an expedition has set out for the Black Rock. The camp on the beach is waiting.
Going in, you know the first season reaches its climax, the raft runs into danger, and the Hatch is opened. Like Part 1, the backstory is spread across the whole ensemble rather than one person.
