The End (Part 1) is the first half of the series finale, which aired on Sunday, May 23, 2010. Jack Bender directed, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote it.
Where things stand: Jacob has explained why they were chosen, and a new protector has been named. The groups have come together for the endgame, the submarine cost them dearly, and the flash-sideways has spent the season bringing familiar people back into each other’s orbit.
The series finale begins here, and all threads converge. That is all you need. Bender directed 42 episodes of the show, more than anyone, starting with Tabula Rasa in the first season. Off-Island, the crew filmed at the Bishop Museum, Hawaiʻi’s state museum of natural and cultural history, founded in 1889. Watch both parts in one sitting, with nowhere to be afterwards.
