Synopsis

Before you watch

Across the Sea aired on May 11, 2010. Tucker Gates directed the last of his seven episodes, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote it.

Where things stand: the group tried to escape on the submarine, and the cost was devastating. Jacob was first seen at the end of the fifth season, and the Man in Black has spent this whole season drawing people to his side. The Island’s purpose has been hinted at, and the endgame is close.

This is the origin story of the Island’s oldest conflict. It sets the main cast aside almost completely, with the two figures at the heart of that conflict at the centre, so it is unlike almost any other hour of the show. Viewers argued about it the week it aired and still do. Come to it with an open mind, and with the questions you have been carrying since the fifth season finale.
