Synopsis

Before you watch

The Incident (Part 1) aired on May 13, 2009, as the first hour of a two-hour season finale. Jack Bender directed both parts, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote them. Bender later said he broke The Incident into separate mini movies when he planned the shoot.

Where things stand: Jack has committed to Daniel’s plan to change the future, and Locke has taken charge of the Others. The people in 1977 and the people in the present are both heading somewhere they cannot turn back from.

The season finale begins here, and someone the show has only talked about until now is finally seen. The Island scenes include Mākua Beach, a remote sandy cove near the end of the road on Oʻahu’s west coast, below the dry ridges of Mākua Valley. Watch both parts together.
