Synopsis
Before you watch
The Variable aired on April 29, 2009, after a two-week break, and is the 100th episode of Lost. Paul Edwards directed, and Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz wrote it. They later told the official magazine how emotional it was to reach 100 episodes.
Where things stand: Miles’s backstory has been told, Ben has faced judgment, and the group in 1977 is keeping its secret. In the present, the Oceanic Six are back on the Island, and Desmond has been looking for Daniel’s mother since the start of the season.
Daniel Faraday returns with a radical plan to change the future. Daniel has been the show’s resident physicist since the freighter team arrived, and nobody has been more careful about the rules of time. The show marked its milestone with a big episode, and the last stretch of the season starts here.
