The Constant
Synopsis
Before you watch
The Constant aired on February 28, 2008. Jack Bender directed, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote it. Editor Mark Goldman joined the two of them for the DVD commentary, which says something about how proud of it they were.
Where things stand: Kate has gone on trial in the future, and Locke’s hold on the Barracks has been tested. Sayid has made his deal with Locke. The freighter is still out at sea, and so far it has only sent people in one direction.
Going in, all you need to know is that Desmond experiences something extraordinary while travelling to the freighter, and that this is widely considered the best episode of the series. Desmond has not been the focus since the third season, so it is worth remembering how much he has already been through on this Island. Go in knowing as little as possible. If you only rewatch one Lost episode, people will tell you it should be this one.
