The Cost of Living
Synopsis
Before you watch
The Cost of Living aired on November 1, 2006. Jack Bender directed, and it is the only Lost script by Monica Owusu-Breen and Alison Schapker, who wrote it together.
Where things stand: Ben has been playing games with Sawyer, and the prisoners have learned something unsettling about where they are being held. On the beach, Locke is back after the implosion, and the survivors have started to regroup without Jack to lead them.
This is Mr. Eko’s episode, his first since the second season’s question mark hunt, and the setup is simple: Eko faces his past, and the Smoke Monster passes judgment. Eko arrived with the tail section survivors and has become one of the steadiest people in camp. The official magazine came back to this episode many times, with storyboards, script pages and interviews. Watch closely.
