Live Together, Die Alone (Part 1) aired on May 24, 2006, as the first hour of a two-hour season finale. Jack Bender directed, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof wrote it.
Where things stand: Michael’s time with the Others has been revealed, and the camp is still reeling from the violence in the Hatch. The Hatch and its button have been at the centre of the season since the premiere, and the blast door map has sent people looking for answers across the Island.
This is the first episode built around Desmond. He returns by sailboat, and his backstory reveals how he came to the Island. The title is a line about survival that the show has been building on since the first season, now on a season finale. Lindelof later told the official magazine the finale was shot against the clock. Watch both hours together.
