Synopsis

Before you watch

S.O.S. aired on April 12, 2006, the last new episode for three weeks. Eric Laneuville directed his second episode, and Steven Maeda and Leonard Dick wrote it. It is Maeda’s fourth and last Lost script.

Where things stand: Hurley has seen an old friend from the mental institution and started to question what is real. Locke has found a hidden map, and the camp is still holding Henry Gale. Rescue has never felt further away.

This is the first episode built around Rose and Bernard, a married couple, and the first time the show turns its attention to two of the quieter people on the Island. Bernard wants to build an S.O.S. sign, and Rose reveals a secret. Off-Island scenes were filmed on Marin Lane, a short brick-walled lane off Nuʻuanu Avenue in downtown Honolulu, beside an Irish pub. It is a smaller, gentler hour in the middle of a tense stretch.
