Maternity Leave
Synopsis
Before you watch
Maternity Leave aired on March 1, 2006, after a two-week break. Jack Bender directed, and it is the only script by Dawn Lambertsen Kelly and Matt Ragghianti, who were writers’ assistants on the show. They were told the episode would run four minutes longer than usual, so they had to write extra.
Where things stand: Rousseau has captured a man who says he came to the Island in a balloon, and Sayid has been questioning him. The camp now has a prisoner, and nobody agrees on what to do with him.
This is Claire’s second episode as the focus, after Raised by Another. She recovers memories of her kidnapping and searches for a medical station. It was also Zack Grobler’s first episode as the show’s production designer. Claire’s missing days have been a blank since she came back with no memory, and this episode starts to fill that gap.
