Walkabout

CentricJohn Locke

Synopsis

Before you watch

Walkabout aired on October 13, 2004. A walkabout is an Australian term for a long journey on foot through the outback, and the flight left from Sydney, so the title is not idle.

Where things stand: Jack has learned something about Kate’s past while caring for the wounded marshal. The camp is a few days old, and the jungle is still something nobody wants to walk into alone.

Jack Bender directs again. The writer is David Fury, whose four Lost scripts all come from this first season. This is the first hour centred on Locke, the quiet man who has kept to the edge of the camp so far. The editor, Stephen Semel, later moved into the director’s chair for two episodes of his own. LOST: The Official Magazine came back to this episode more than once over its five-year run, which tells you how fans took to it. Go in cold.
