Special aired on January 19, 2005, the last new episode before a three-week break. Greg Yaitanes directed his second episode of the season, and David Fury wrote his third.

Where things stand: Boone and Shannon have just had their episode. Michael has been trying to build a life for his son on the beach, with mixed results, and Walt has been finding other grown-ups to spend his days with.

This is the first episode about Michael and Walt: their relationship gets tested, and Walt may have unusual abilities. Kawela Bay and its banyan grove on the North Shore are back as a filming spot. The official magazine kept returning to this one: it explained the visual effects in its second issue, ran a photo recap in 2007 and printed script pages in 2010.
