Genius Theory (Spoiler)

I just stumbled across this unmistakeably brilliant theory at DocArzt's Blog. It's so obvious, but I didn't even make the connection.

The Island Needs It's Constant!

Of course! It's jumping back and forth through time, just as Desmond did in The Constant! It's the same sort of dislodging! Tapdawg (writer of this theory) lists the possible constants and their likeliness. I personally think it's constant is all the people on 815, The Freighties and The Others. Basically everyone on our strand of time. This doesn't include anyone who came to the island when it was in another time (ie. Yemi, or Richard). We see our 815ers, Juliet and the Freighties all seem to stay on the same path when it skips, whereas Richard dissappears from Locke, as does Yemi's plane. I wonder if Ben would jump with them.

What do you guys think?

That's a great theory, I could totally go along with that. But that means that the island itself is not the cause of the "illness" if it can be affected by it.

you know... I was totally feeling something like this. But, we're not entirely sure if it's the island that's moving through time right? I mean, I know the island disappeared but didn't Faraday say that either they were moving through time or the island was? For example, why does Charolette get a nose bleed then? Wouldn't everyone get one? an amazing thought non the less!

Yeah, it's not a completely fool-proof theory, but there are just some undeniable similarities. As far as Charlotte being the only one with a nose bleed, the same could be said when Desmond is the only one who gets a nosebleed in The Constant. It somehow only affects certain people.

Christie, you could be onto something with that… maybe this theory should be revised to say that this group of people need their collective constant? Perhaps they'll all be getting nose bleeds eventually?

interesting.
