New Wave of Character Polls

With the dawn of a new year and a new season of Lost, it has been brought to our attention that a new round of character polls would be welcome.

This time we're going backwards (which, let's be honest, is very Lost of us). Here is the photo that will be filled in, one-by-one. We'll be posting polls for each character, and those will determine who is who. Please feel free to make nominations in the comments though!

New Season Five Promo Trailer

This is chalk-full of things that make die-hard fans go nutty. I heard some backwards voices, saw loads of indistinguishable flashes (the sort you have to pause for) and a familiar voice making phone calls to Kate. Check it:

Nicknames

Here is a link to a "nickname generator" on the abc website. It reads, "Sawyer has a nack for the nickname. Here's your chance to find out what he would call you if you were so lucky to be dubbed by His Seaside Surliness." Now, why does that sound like something Jonna would write?

Retro Promo Postcards

Seriously, one of the coolest things I've seen from the mega geniuses at Lost. New e-cards in that german expressionistic (well ok, they don't all entirely hold tightly to an era… that font on "Come Back" is clearly VERY 70's), faux-futuristic idea of exciting new frontiers. So, send one to a friend and remind them that Lost didn't disappear like an island in the middle of the pacific!

Season 5 Sneak Peek #2

Jess got word of a new sneak peek for Season 5. So after a quick search on YouTube I found it. This one includes Jack and Ben and is a little shorter than the last one.

LOST Season 5 Facts

Well, I'm new to the blog and to honest I've been putting off writing a post because I wanted it to be something REALLY good. This may not be very good, but hey at least it's something right?

I found this site with some "LOST Season5 Spoilers." I personally don't think they are, but as a disclaimer: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

Season 5 Lost Episode Titles
5x1 - Because You Left
5x2 - The Lie
5x3 - Jughead
5x4 -The Little Prince
5x5 - This Place is Death
5x6 - The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham

Theses links don't have much on them now, but they give you the information as soon as it becomes available. I love how amazingly vague, yet movie-titleish these shows sound. For example; the lie could be about Kate because let's face it, she's a liar. The Little Prince I'm thinking is about Aaron, then again it could be about Ben... etc.

This set of bullet points are what they call "SPOILERS" however, I think they just tickle my brain:

• 
  Men come to Kate's house to get blood samples from her and Aaron "to determine [Kate's] relationship to the child." Kate refuses to give the samples and then packs a bag and leaves with Aaron.
• Episode 5, This Place is Death, has lots of crazy sound effects according to Damon.
• A crash involving several cars takes place around episode 6. Locke steps out, bloodied and shaken, and looks over the damage to the car he was in. (The Transmission)
• Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) has been spotted on the set with the actress playing the young Rousseau. (The Transmission)
  
• Matthew Abaddon was seen in a hospital with Widmore. (The Transmission)
  
• Now we are finding out that there is only one off-island Dharma station and that Rose and Bernard have been there before. Remember when Bernard took Rose to see the healer in Australia?
  
• Desmond's all knowing pawn shop owner and adivsor, Ms. Hawking, returns for season 5 to reveal an interesting connection between herself and another character. That's all I'm giving away at this point (mostly because it's all I know).
  
• Lance Reddick takes a break from Fringe to head to Hawaii. A vacation? Oh no, I don't think so. I'm thinking we'll see spooky Matthew Abbadon in season 5.
  
• The return of Neil Frogurt! Frogurt was mentioned by Hurley in an early episode as the man who used to sell frozen yogurt. He was then featured in a mobisode with Hurley, making it clear that he was interested in Libby. Mr. Frogurt makes his grand return in season 5.
  
• Damon says we'll see Desmond in the future (get the double meaning?).
  
• Kristen at E Online! tells us that Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, and Hurley all need to go back to the island because they need to fan out to a group of Dharma stations. I've also heard rumors that Desmond will be among these six (six including baby Aaron).
  
• Doug Hutchinson is set to return as Horace Goodspeed for at least 4 episodes in season 5.
  
• Michael Emerson (Ben) says that Ben is free floating in terms of geography and time. (Ausiello Video)
  
• Claire will not be in season 5, but will return for season 6. (Ausiello Video)
  
• Daniel Dae Kim was in Hawaii, so this looks like good news for Jin. (Ausiello Video)
  
• A building in Hawaii has been transformed into Simon's Butcher Shop. Simon is the name of the Charlie's dad, who was a butcher, so we may be getting some Charlie flashbacks early on in season 5.
  
• Sterling Beaumon, who played young Ben in season 4 will return in season 5.
  
• Said Taghmaoui has been cast in the role of Caesar.
  
• Zuleikha Robinson has been cast for the role of Ilana.
  
• Michelle Rodriguez returns for one episode (probably the second episode of season 5).
  
• Cheech Marin will appear again, presumably as Hurley's dad, David Reyes.
  
• William Blanchette, who first appeared on Lost in season 2 as baby Aaron and then returned in season 4 as toddler Aaron in Jack's flash-forward, will return again in season 5 as toddler Aaron.
  
• According to Doc Jensen, the first episode of season 5 is called Because You Left.
  Filming
  
• Two scenes were shot in stormy seas (filmed at a swimming pool). In one scene were a bunch of red shirts, but the other scene involved Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Charlotte, Daniel, and possibly Locke in a canoe. Find out more and see a video at Hawaiiweblog.com.

Great Promo Shots

For the first time in Lost history, they're actually getting creative with their promotional photography. Instead of the usual beautiful survivor in tattered clothes with lush Hawaiian scenery, they're integrating some inventive props and set elements that mix island with city. Really cool (though they would be outstanding if they weren't clipped actors placed in these cool settings)! Here are some of my faves:

Ladies, Hold on To Your Tattered Cargo Pants!

In an effort to capture some more cash and recognition while Lost is still the best thing around, Sawyer (known off the island as Josh Holloway) has become none other than the new Cool Water Hunk. (Surely, he was inspired by the success of Hurley: For Men). So, fellas, smell like Lost's sauciest, southern bad boy for only $32.40.

Check out these shots of Josh frolicking down by the sea shore in nothing but a pair of torn jeans and a lame Hawaiian Islands tattoo… by the way, how is that any different from his day job?

LOST Starter Kit

As we continue to anticipate January, 21st ABC is trying it's best to keep the momentum rolling by throwing more freebies at us. Right now if you run over to iTunes you can download what they are calling the LOST Starter Kit for free. It might best serve the interests of those friends of yours that haven't got hooked on LOST yet. (Personally, I liked the one from last year better, but it's no longer avaiblable)

They're everywhere, I tell ya...

Lost, of course, is not the only piece of the J.J. Abrams empire, and they've never been shy about dropping Easter eggs into their other projects. And the latest one is from Fringe, J.J.'s sci-fi (don't call it an X-Files clone) project on Fox, featuring Pacey, Lord Denethor, and Matthew Abbadon.

Long story short, a scientist dies after jumping from the high-rise headquarters of his company. FBI investigates and the agent finds out that the scientist was about to fly out west...on, you guessed it.

UPDATE: Just to clarify. This (likely) doesn't mean that there's a tie-in between the Lost universe and the Fringe universe. This is more like that one episode of Alias when Sydney holds a party at her house and Driveshaft's "You All Everybody" is playing in the background.
