So someone spent too much time on a timeline of Lost fun. I havent had time to fully read it but maybe it can give some perspective...envoke some ideas...who knows!

It starts back in the 1800's on board a piratey ship...so walk the plank and dive into the vast mind of one Lost monkey.

Au revoir Danielle!… and Carl too.

I'm not saying I like this trend, but if they keep this up, I'll have a new, foreign character to say goodbye to in another language every week!

Two for One Murder Special:
I'll be honest, although Danielle was never one of my favorite characters, I'm totally not ok with her being killed off. No wonder Darlton craftily dodged questions about us ever seeing her flashbacks, because she'd be done-for in the middle of season 4. Carl, he was a good kid, he just liked to look up at the stars with his high school sweetheart in their backyards, he never hurt anyone, but when you're courting the daughter of evil incarnate, you're not going to last long. We were joking that if Carl was the killed-off character (as promised from last week's previews) it would be a cop out. Shortly after, they totally freaked me out with the crazy bullet through the water bottle! Holy crap!

There are a few things possible here:
1. Carl IS the death promised in this episode, and the ever-resilient Danielle Rousseau will make a triumphant comeback. She is, after-all, near the top of the "people we'd like to see kill Ben, because they deserve the revenge".

2. They're both gone for good. Killed by one of the freighties. I can totally see Charlotte offing someone. I used to like her, but she can be brutal. You can't bludgeon Kate and get in a violent brawl with Juliette (who I'm in good favor with at the moment) and expect me to like you. The motive, of course, being to get Ben through Alex.

3. They're both gone for good. Killed by Ben's people. If you'll notice, just before Ben suggests that they head to "the last safe place", he gives a spooky glare to Carl as if to say "Stop fondling my daughter's waist you outrageous hooligan!". We all know he hates Danielle because every single episode they're in, she puts him in his place!

4. They're both gone for good. Killed by the dissenting faction of the others, lead by Richard Alpert. We all know, from the episode "The Brig", wherein Locke (who refuses to kill his mega-evil dad) is given information, from Richard that leads him to getting Sawyer to kill his mega-evil dad. Richard expresses to Locke that Ben might not be fulfilling his role the way they had planned, perhaps they want to take him out, or use Alex to control him.

Information Overload

1. We found out (well, according to Tom (Mr. Friendly)) that Widmore bank-rolled the 815 fake. They even went and so far as to show a mysterious folder of evidence including where he got the bodies, and the plane. Hot dog!

2. We learned that Michael and Walt DID make it back to civilization and that Michael, is laying low as Kevin Johnson, while Walt, who is living with the knowledge that his Dad murdered two people to rescue him (nice one, Mikey) is under the care of Michael's mom. I think that makes Walt the only living person to appear as an apparition (to Locke after Ben shot him). Also, that Michael, who grows ever more noble with each passing episode—NOT—is supposed to kill everyone on the freighter.

3. We had the idea reinforced that the island don't mess around, baby. Michael tried to off himself multiple times and the island prevented it. Holy cow! Insanity.

4. Of course, I cannot post without mentioning that they've finally done it. After 3 and a half seasons of heterosexuality, Tom, AKA Mr. Friendly has stepped out of, what must be, a very large closet. It was only a matter of time. I'm sure the writers had a blast making possibly the manliest character in the show's history a big queen. (Sidenote: Is it just me, or do you forget how fat he is? From the chest up, he just looks like a giant, buff dude, but man alive, that guy has a gut the size of Alaska! Sorry, that was off-topic, but it honestly gets me every time.) This of course, was alluded to when captive Kate is handed a dress by Tom, and he assures her "you're not exactly my type"— CAUSE YOU'RE A GIRL! Wow. Also notable, Ben is not the only who travels from the island to the rest of the world.

5. Ben also informed us that there is one more Dharma station, aptly titled "The Temple", which he claims is the last safe place.

6. Libby is to Michael as Charlie is to Hurley.

7. Granmama don't take no guff!

Tonight's Episode: Meet Kevin Johnson

Sayid confronts Ben's spy on the freighter, and Ben urges daughter Alex to flee Locke's camp in order to survive an impending attack.

If you will remember last week's not-so-surprising surprise, an old friend parading around as a fellow named Kevin popped up. Looks like we're in for an evening of deception with our old friend and favorite spineless murderer, Michael! I've got 10 bucks that says Walt shows up looking about 37.

Also, they preview-promised that someone was gonna get ye olde axe. My guess is one of the freighties, maybe Miles or Frank?

Great Quotes

I'm starting a new category on our blog called "Great Quotes" wherein people from Lost or Harvest utter particularly noteworthy comments.

안녕 Jin!

I think we can all agree that 1.) Ji Yeon was very sad who do they think they are?! First Charlie, now Jin! The nerve! 2.) They totally tricked us with that dual flashback! Punks!

Once it all came together, I smacked my forehead and realized Jin's mega-old, enormous cell phone wasn't so much a cell phone as a big, fat clue that he dropped in the middle of the street. Obviously Jin wouldn't be using that brick in the future, and as we learned from last season's finale, cell phones are clues. Jack made a call on his razr phone, which didn't exist prior to the crash. Oh well.

More importantly, let's talk about he slap heard 'round the world. Nice one Sun! (Although, I think Juliette scored some points by doing whatever she could to get Sun to safety). Let's be honest though, that was a satisfying slap. Kind of interesting that she chose to "out" Sun's affair when we just learned last week that she, herself was Goodwin's "other woman".

Lastly, Jin's date of death on the tombstone was the date of the crash, so, I guess the world thinks he didn't survive the crash… Interesting.

Lost Tonight: Ji Yeon

Juliet is forced to reveal some startling news to Jin when Sun threatens to move to Locke's camp. Meanwhile, Sayid and Desmond begin to get an idea of the freighter crew's mission when they meet the ship's Captain.

OH SNAP! What startling news to Jin?! Was she lying to Sun? Probably not, they're probably just talking about the fact that Sun is toast if she stays on the island. According to the latest podcast, this episode will wrap up our oceanic six list.

Exciting.

Flashback of the Week: I Do

So last night, I re-watched "I Do", you remember, Kate, pretending to be "Monica" gets hitched to Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Serenity (AKA Nathan Fillion).

It was the mini-cliffhanger that capped off (what I, and so many others consider to be) a dark period in the Lostiverse. The slow-moving, slightly unpleasant first portion of season 3. Which thankfully picked itself up off the ground, dusted itself off and returned four months later, all bright and shiny new.

"I Do" was definitely a bright spot in that slab of story. We discovered Kate's brush with *GASP* suburban normalcy! It contains the classic line "Taco night? I don't do taco night!", Kate and Sawyer's cage romp, Ben's surgery turned Jack's hostage situation, and most importantly Jack's realization that Kate might not be a one man kinda gal.

This episode is a good watch currently because of "The Other Woman". There's a fair bit of Juliette/Ben story line that is all the more illuminated in the wake of our newly discovered side of Benjamin "Juliette is mine" Linus. There's this super great part where Ben discovers Jack watching Kate and Sawyer on the security monitor and after Jack leaves, the camera focuses on this completely vacant, impossible-to-read expression (Ben's hallmark). Post "The Other Woman" it reads (to me anyway) as a waring mind, torn between the glee of knowing Jack (whom he suspects Juliette is falling for) is hurting emotionally, but also some serious fear that this leaves a handsome, resourceful, spine surgeon single and ready to mingle with Juliette!

There is some truly great acting from Ben in the aforementioned scene, as well as an incredible scene when Kate is allowed to see Jack (whom she hasn't seen in weeks) to plea for Sawyer's life. There is a glass barrier between them. Very moving. Evangeline Lilly is seriously great in it.

Anyway, it all draws to a gripping close with Jack, slicing and dicing Ben to the point of danger, so that the others will release Kate and Sawyer, and back at the ranch, the lostaways bury Eko and Locke discovers an intriguing message on Eko's "scripture stick" "LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND LOOK NORTH (Genesis 13:14) JOHN 3:05".

Goodies: Ben's Giant Face Desktop

Hey, I just stumbled upon a gold mine of high-res lost photos. Naturally, my first inclination is that I must share these larger-than-life shots of the undeniably gorgeous cast with you, my lawstsome buddies.

Of course the handsomest mug of them all, the mug that is most worthy to be life-size and staring you down from your monitor is none other than Benjamin Linus. Use it as a motivational tool, pretend he is glaring at you to finish that side job, or wrap up your homework. Through the power of fear, you'll find yourself finishing tasks in half the time.

Giant face o' ben in 1900x1220 res (because I have much love for my high-res viewin' mac peops.)

Happy weekend. Watch for a sassy recap.

New Weekly Rating Poll

Hey, just want to invite all of our readers (all 10 of you) to vote in our weekly rating poll. After every episode we'll be posting a poll where you can rate the latest episode on a scale of 1 to 4.

Thanks.

Well, Well, Well… Guess We're Right

So, I can't help but say I'm 100% positive that after last night's episode, that Ben is totally evil. Good guys don't try to possess people the way he did. Although I could easily see Trever or Dirk having that attitude towards Juliette, so who knows?

With that said, check out the results of our "Who is the ultimate bad guy?" poll. I think we're spot on. Also, it appears we showed much love for Locke (even though I want to strangle every time he falls for Ben's "oh, one more thing…" trick!)

Tonight's Episode: The Other Woman

Juliet receives an unwelcome visit from someone from her past and is given orders to track down Charlotte and Faraday in order to stop them from completing their mission -- by any means necessary. Meanwhile, Ben offers Locke an enticing deal.

Sounds good!

Flashback of the Week: Catch 22

I've decided that each week, I will re-watch one previous episode of Lost that is pertinent to the latest episode. I will then "re-hash" (to steal a podcast term) that episode and make you want to go back and watch it also.

Let me begin by saying that "Flashes Before Your Eyes", a Desmond-centric ep. from season 3 is probably the best ep. to go back and watch, but I'm finding that it pertains to nearly every new ep. so I will skip it.

Instead, I watched "Catch 22", you remember it, Desmond flashes back to his time as a monk, while back at island, he gets a flash of Charlie being shot in the neck by an arrow (which they show about 3 billion times, kind of gross, kind of don't like watching Charlie die) along with a parachuter (whom Des believes to be Penny) who crash lands in the spooky jungle. Well, once you've seen "The Constant", it will cast some serious light on the shadowy depths of Catch 22.

1. It's well-known that, papa monk, or Brother Campbell has a photo on his desk of him and Mrs. Hawking, the creepy old lass from "Flashes Before Your Eyes" who knows more than we do. So it's quite possible that Bro Campbell possesses the same abilities as her, or is, at least "in on it".

2. Desmond tells his ex-fiancé that he doesn't know what happened and then just woke up on the street and Brother Campbell was there and asked if he needed help. Pre-The Constant = WTH?, Post- The Constant = Desmond's consciousness totally zoomed into the future at that point. Also, Brother Campbell clearly knew of this and was there when he awoke.

3. When the parachuter descends from the sky, you hear a strange series of noises, splashing in the ocean loud helicopter sounds. This made me wonder, did the helicopter from which Naomi fell just turn around and go back? Unlikely.

4. Awesome conversation about superhero powers between Hurley and Charlie is very enjoyable. Although the greatest source of humor in this episode is when they're (Charlie, Hurley, Jin, and Desmond) tromping along the beach, Charlie, Hurley and Jin (who doesn't speak english) are whistling a la the Breakfast club. HILARIOUS.

So, bust out your Season 3 dvd's, pop in disc 5 and give "Catch 22" (episode 17) a gander.
