The Man Behind the Music

Ok, so we sort of made this character up. Theoretically he exists. It was sort of a funny joke on the poll, but as always, the numbers don't lie (and I don't mean 4 8 15 16 23 42).

I mean, what would "You All Everybody" be without an awesome dude controlling the sound board? It would be pure crap. However, the sound guy, who, for the sake of names we'll call "Paul" makes it a totally slammin' jam that propels the late Charlie Pace into the bittersweet arms of success, and, if you want to get technical, propels him to a little island in the middle of the pacific. Sound guy "Paul" probably also mixed the tracks on the Greatest Hits released after the crash. He's really very important. For all we know, he could be a member of the Dharma Initiative, carefully steering Charlie's fate via his stellar sound skills. It could happen.

Esteemed colleagues, please give an audible round of applause for "Paul" the Drive Shaft Sound Guy!!!!

PS I realize that is not where a sound guy would sit and that's not the sound board that he would use. C'mon! Cut me some slack. I have to work with what I've got. Also, how else could I clearly show Paul with Drive Shaft!?

I have a question for whomever can answer it for me. You mentioned in this blog that Charle's last name is "Pace." But in the Desmond episode where he runs into Charlie playing his guitar on a street corner in England, there is a sign that says, "Charlie Hieronymus." I remember it because I have a friend with the same last name. So what's his real last name?

Andrea, his full name is Charlie Hieronymus Pace. And some interesting things regarding that middle name (courtesy of lostpedia):

Hieronymus is the Latin version of Jerome, which is Greek for "sacred name".

– It was St. Jerome who translated the Bible into Latin.

– It is also the first name of the Dutch surrealist painter Hieronymus Bosch, famous for his depictions of demons.

*Also Alicia had an interesting observation regarding Charlie since we watched Season 1 Ep. 5 "Walkabout" last night. I'll see if she'll post it here.

Also Andrea B., those are both great considerations for baby names, Hieronymus and Jerome… if you have a boy. Haha.

And thank you for the explanation, Dirk. That was very thorough!

Okay so here's the info that i found. I don't really know that it's relevant and perhaps I'm really scraping the bottom of the bucket but hey...LOST isn't on right now and it might give you something to think about for a few seconds.

As Dirk mentioned we were watching LOST Season 1 ep. 5 "Walkabout" the other night. In a scene where Charlie and Locke are talking Charlie's tattoo is very evident. His tattoo reads, "Living is easy with eyes shut." I found this interesting and so I researched it. It actually is a real tattoo that Dominic Monaghan (the actor that plays Charlie) has on his arm. After doing some research (actually very little reasearch) I found that this is a quote from the Beatles' song "Strawberry Fields Forever." Read the lyrics here, http://www.lyricsfreak.com/l/lennon+john/strawberry+fields+forever_20082535.html.
Basically the lyrics talk about living is easy with eyes shut, misunderstanding all you see and nothing is real.

Now again, this may be absolutely nothing however couldn't the LOST makeup people have covered up Charlie's tattoo? They did work Jack's tattoo into the script so who knows. Take it for what it's worth :)

Dirley and Julicia… you guys should do full-on posts about both the name thing and the tatoo thing.
