So, sorry for my lateness on this post, I was busy meeting the Flight of the Conchords, so my excuse for not watching on Thursday night is rock-solid.
Ok, but seriously, that episode proceeded to give my brain a fervent beating. The sort of beating doled out by someone with super speed, that blindsides you and leaves you wondering what just happened and why your adrenaline is spurting out through your eye sockets! That is all to say, I liked it.
Mostly, I liked Ben's futuristic swiss army knife, his all-in-one deadly weapon with time traveling capabilities. Very scary. Here's a question for you, why hasn't he pulled this little fella out on the island? He's been in many a compromising position. One of two things are possible here (well maybe three) 1. He hasn't busted out his WMD because he's always right where he wants to be, even when he's bloodied and beaten, they're all just playing into his game. 2. He doesn't have it yet. 3. He can't use it on the island.
One line that got me really excited and interested was when the boys were playing Risk and (correct me if I'm wrong) Hurley says "It's all about Australia", something like that. A clue perhaps? It was pretty obvious.
So much happened, so here comes a bulleted list of things I can remember, that are full-on discussion-worthy. (I kind of love hyphenated words and phrases.)
- Ben waking up in the middle O' Tunisia (AKA When CS Lewis found her polar bear remains). Time travel, perhaps just teleporting. Who knows?
- Someone killed Sayid's beloved. Why? Who? What's going on?
- Ben and Widmore having a nightcap? Uhh, last time I checked they were opposing forces in a very expensive and long-standing war. So there they are exchanging words, un-armed, and apparently unable to kill each other. Is there some crazy grandfather paradoxing goin' on?
- Penny? Ben's going to kill Penny? Doesn't he know how much we love her love story? Doesn't he care? Daddy?
- Alex… but we liked Alex. She had a rough life. Evil genius adoptive father, crazy island mother she never knew who was incidentally just murdered, and Carl, the only one she could trust, also mudered. The last thing she heard her dad say was that she was just a pawn? Tragic much?
- Answers: We now know a bit more regarding Sayid's agreement to fulfill the evil bidding of Ben.
- Jack's appendix. I like it when they throw in real-life difficulty. He didn't get taken down by smokey, or eat some bad boar. Just good old fashioned appendicitis. Is there a doctor in the house… oh, sore subject.
- Smokey done lost his marbles. So Ben has some control over him eh? Who knew? In that case, why did he want Eko dead? Did he send smokey to capture images of Juliet (his spy) and Kate in the jungle? For the love of things I don't understand! I want some answers about this thing!
- Lastly, I don't know if we've seen Ben physically overcoming people before, but we can see who taught Juliet, huh?

Looks like LOST is one giant game!!! And the game is on. Will Desmond discover Ben's evil new plot and destroy him before he can destroy his lady-love...becoming the true avenger and master of the island...thats the least the writers could do since he had to push that dang button for years!!
And how did Ben get Whittmore from being able to go back to the island, if it was his in the first place. Maybe Dharma was turned against him and some magical experiments succeeded thanks to good ol' Benny's evil plan to rule the world.
I think the part about "changing the rules" is really interesting.
